How did you shade in the background so that it is all black WITHOUT all the sketchy marks?

I gave a base of gray acrylic.
The shadows of the face are made ​​with black markers and pencils.
The light areas are not made with chalk, but with the white pencil.
The blows of light, however, are made with white acrylic.
The background is simple black acrylic.
